Looking For Recommendations (Blog Theme Designers)

•July 11, 2011 • 2 Comments

Okay everyone, I’ve been looking at the free themes that are out there and the every one that I like seems to be a total pain in the butt to alter.  I’ve tried 7 different themes and I can’t get any of them to do what I want.  So do any of you know any good theme designers who are cheap?  Please help!

Song of the Week: I Might by Wilco (With a Bonus Song)

•July 11, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Mmmmmm…new Wilco.  It’s a shame you don’t really hear them on the radio, cuz they are so darn good.  If you’ve never heard of them take a listen to their latest song, I Might.  You can thank me later for introducing you to their awesomeness.😉

As a bonus, I’m adding in a song I heard on the radio the other day that is from a few years ago.  It was orgionally sung by Michael Buble, and while I’m not a fan of his, I thought his version wasn’t bad.  However, I loved the version by Blake Shelton featuring Miranda Lambert 100 times better.  It’s just more my style.  Oh and in case you’re wondering what song I’m talking about, it’s called Home.  I don’t know what it is about this song but it ALWAYS gets to me.

Please Critique My Blog – Reader Input Needed!

•July 11, 2011 • 6 Comments

So insignificant at best is about to get a major overhaul, but I don’t want to do it without taking all of my wonderful reader’s opinions into consideration.  I’d really love to know how I can make your experience with my blog better.  For example, is there something I can do to make navigation easier? Also, how about font color?  I tend to be drawn to darker background themes with splashes of color…but this often means white font against a dark background.  Does it hurt your eyes when you read my blog?  Would it be easier if I went with a darker font?  Please feel free to critique anything and everything, but I ask that you keep it constructive!  No attacking!  I do have feelings, you know! ;)  LOL  In turn, for your opinion, I will try to use as many suggestions as possible.  I want to make sure all of you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing it!  So please, have at it in the comments below!😀

Edited to add: First of all thanks to those of you who have already taken the time to leave your opinon.  I just have one more question I’d like to add.  Do you prefer 2 or 3 column blog formats?

If you had 3 wishes, what would they be?

•July 9, 2011 • 5 Comments

I think this question or one similar is something people often ask themselves or others.   There are always things in our life or even the world, that is essentially completely out of our hands to change, so the idea of wishing then comes into play.  I could do the selfless thing and wish for world peace, but I guess I’m just not that selfless.  LOL  Sorry if that disappoints anyone.🙂

Okay enough babbling.  Below are the 3 wishes I’d make:

1. I would love to go back and live my life knowing what I know now.  If I had this ability I wouldn’t have let myself be influenced by others in elementary school and I definitely wouldn’t let the things they said to me affect me today (I’m working on it, but sadly it’s something I still struggle with).  I also never would’ve dated this guy Matt (aka “the criminal”).  The only time I ever dated solely on looks and I definitely paid for it.  Another thing I would’ve done is go away to college.  I would’ve liked to experience life on my own for a bit before getting married.  Unfortunately, I choose to stay home and go to school, though.  I was only a year into my relationship with my hubby, at the time, and didn’t want to leave him.  I realize now that if we were meant to be we would’ve stayed together whether I went away to school or not.  I’m sure there are also other things I would change, but those are the major things.

2.  I want my daughter to have a long and happy life.  I’d like her to be able to live to her fullest potential and have a lot of the struggles I’ve had to go through over the years.  I can’t imagine most people wouldn’t wish this or something similar for their kid(s).

3. I would like to be financially stable.  I don’t need to be rich…I just want to have enough money that I don’t ever need to have to stress out about money again.  Bills get paid without worry, we can take the occasional vacation, etc.   Money is the source of so much stress that it’d be nice to have that stress of my shoulders.

So what about you guys?   What would your 3 wishes be?  I’d love to hear them!!!

My Middle Name

•July 8, 2011 • 2 Comments

Well the kid was at it again tonight.  LOL

The kid:  “Lisa!” *pauses and then when I don’t respond* “Lisa!”

Me: *jokingly* “Lisa?  Who’s Lisa?”

The kid: “You!” *laughs*

Me: “Me?  My name isn’t Lisa, it’s Mom.”

The kid: *completely serious* “Your middle name is Lisa…your first name is Mom.”

Where does she come up with this stuff?  LOL  Silly girl.
